Milk Glass and Hurricane Themed Wedding at the Warwick Winery

Michael and Rebecca have been together for many years, so this wedding was a long time coming.  When I first read over what Rebecca was hoping to create for her wedding I was sooo excited!  She mentioned that she and Michael were getting married at a winery, but didn’t want to incorporate traditional winery elements such as corks and grapevine.  She was leaning more toward milk glass, and English country flowers.  Not a problem!

All year I couldn’t wait for this wedding.  In fact, this was the wedding that got me started on my milk glass collecting!  I spent so much time on this event collecting all of the Milk Glass, creating lace wrapped votives and burlap table toppers; and fine tuning every last detail the night before.  The only details I still had to attend to were wrapping Rebecca’s bouquet, and  the boutonnieres. Hurricane Irene was scheduled to hit the Hudson Valley on Sunday, so I went to sleep on Friday night feeling confident that there would be no incidents, despite the few early cancellations I had heard about.

Unfortunately I was a little too optimistic.  Saturday morning I got the most disappointing phone call from Rebecca. Although Hurricane Irene wasn’t going to affect the Hudson Valley until Sunday, many of her vendors had cancelled her and Michael’s wedding, including the winery!!!  Shortly after that awful phone call, Rebecca called back to say the wedding was still on, but was being moved up an hour and would only last for two hours, needless to say it was also going to be moved indoors.

Since the photographer cancelled as well, I rushed over to my studio and began taking photos of every last detail of her florals for her and Michael, just in case she didn’t get any later on.  Here is what I have.  Please note the bouquets and boutonnieres were never wrapped as expertly as I would have liked for them to be, due to the frantic rush out the door. But no matter what, there was no way I was going to let these beautiful flowers go to waste!!!

Despite this terrible weather set back, Rebecca and Michael still exchanged their vows, and had what I am sure was a most memorable day. From the personal pictures I have seem, it looks like everyone had a blast, despite the impending storm.  How can you not want to celebrate the marriage of such a great pairing!  What a fabulous couple they are, I wish them all the very best and hope that they have nothing but smooth sailing from this point on!!!

Rebecca’s Bouquet contained Sweet Peas, Hybrid Delphinium, Dusty Miller, Freesia, Roses, and other botanical elements.

The centerpieces were just so lovely!   I wish I had a chance to photograph them with better lighting and with a nicer color background than this brown, however with the massive storm approaching even I had to make some concessions.

The centerpieces contained flowers such as Lisianthus, Sweet Peas, Eucalyptus, locally grown Pee Gee Hydrangea and Dusty Miller, Hybrid Delphinium, Campanula Bells, and tons of other blooms and herbs.
