One of our Coral Charm Peony Centerpieces
Selecting any wedding vendor can be an overwhelming task, however deciding on a florist is one of the most difficult ones for sure! After doing your preliminary research as described in our earlier blog here: http://blog.anightinbloom.com/?p=1725 Here is a list we have put together to help you narrow down your selections, and pick one that is just right for you and your needs. Some good questions to ask while first meeting with a florist are…
- How many weddings do you do a year?
- How many events do you handle at a time?
- Who will be designing my wedding florals? Ask to see photos of the designer’s recent work.
- How many years of experience does the business have? How many years of experience does the designer have?
- Ask to see a portfolio. Make sure that this is work that the florist has done personally, and is not just stock photography of the work that they can do.
- Who will be delivering my wedding florals? Is this person a designer, and can they assist me if I need a corsage at the last minute, or any adjustments made to my wedding décor?
- What are your policies if I would like to bring my own candles, or pick up my designs to save a little money?
- What is your design philosophy?
- What are your policies regarding payments, contracts, and deposits.
- Are you insured?
- Do you have a backup plan if something should happen to you or your staff during my wedding week?
- Where can I see some of your recent reviews?
- How much of your business involves event work? How much of your business involves everyday orders?
- If you choose to work with a freelance designer, studio, or boutique business, be sure they have all of the proper professional equipment, especially a cooler. It is true that not all flowers require refrigeration, however certain varieties MUST have refrigeration, and if there is an unusually hot spell during your wedding week, you want to be sure your flowers are going to look their best.
Hopefully these questions will help you to narrow down your selection and pick the perfect match for you and your unique needs! Happy Planning!
