Jason and Heather’s Dutchess Manor Wedding

Heather was referred to me by a mutual friend. She informed me right away that she only needed personal flowers, because she was getting married at Dutchess Manor, and this venue supplies all the centerpieces. No problem!

She really loved the color pallet of soft sage green and ivory, but wanted to incorporate lots of country elements to reflect the feeling of the Hudson Valley. And yes, that is her bridal bouquet on my website’s home page. (Everyone still seems to love that one and the Vicky Bouquet the
most).

For this order I used pink French Hydrangea, pink roses, pink Ranuculas, and delicious smelling Basil, ideal for the bride-to-be, who was a complete foodie. I love combining fresh herbs with flowers whenever possible.



Here we go…

As a florist I have seen it all and heard it all! I’m hoping that by creating a blog, my readers will be able to share in my adventures as I continue to grow my business. For those of you who don’t know me, I have been working in flower shops since I was in high school. I now have 15 years of experience. A lot has changed since I first began as counter help, sweeping petal and stem covered floors. I am now married, a home owner, and a mother. Life began moving very quickly for me in 2007. After learning I was pregnant my husband and I decided it was time to buy our first house, and around the same time I began toying with the idea of working for myself.

As luck would have it, during my ninth month of pregnancy, we did find a house; with a photography studio and darkroom already in it! The area was a perfect studio for me, and the darkroom was quickly turned into a floral cooler. My son was born shortly after, and so was my business, A Night in Bloom Event Floristry.
