Gorgeous and Green Mills Estate Wedding

Ahhh the Mills Estate.  One of my all time favorite Hudson Valley locations!  Whitney and Todd really wanted a natural feel to their day. They chose this location not really for the beautiful historic estate, but more for the beautiful and serene Hudson River views.  I think this location is a home run for any event because you have the best of both worlds, gorgeous mansion to your left, beautiful river to your right!

Whitney brought us her own bark covered containers which we filled with a combination of Hydrangeas, White Spider (or Fuji) Mums, Freesia, and Star of Bethlehem.  She really wanted her centerpieces to be mostly white with just pops of green.  Although Whitney loved some rustic trends, she really didn’t want garden style centerpieces.  She requested much more “formal” floral designs, yet asked that they placed in rustic containers.  The overall effect was just lovely!  I especially LOVED making her bouquet, finally a chance to use Lady Slipper Orchids!  Whitney and Todd incorporated a lot of kraft paper in their favors and stationary, so to give a little nod to that tan tone, we incorporated Magnolia leaves.  We also had chance to create a beautiful escort table for their guests incorporating lots of mosses, large vessels filled with floating candles, and lots of river rocks and loose blooms.  It really was a beautiful day, with a beautiful couple!  Check out these beautiful images from Photographics Solutions.  The first one is one of my FAVORITES of 2013!

Congratulations Whitney and Todd, we wish you all the very best!!!

We’re Back!

After the WORST case of the flu, which then resulted in a lot of asthma issues, I am finally back to feeling more like myself.  Thank you all so much for bearing with me.  We have a TON of work to get started on these days!  I am cranking out estimates nonstop, and am pleased to say I only have a few more to get out to all of you.  We are also super behind in our Bloomie Awards!  I’m so sorry to all of you, we always strive to have the winner announced before the holidays, but this flu really threw a wrench into our holiday season.  We will be working very hard to get the rest of these entries up very soon!

We are officially into our “consult season”.  Appointment dates are filling up very quickly and in order to meet with everyone in a timely fashion we are scheduling many of our appointments back to back.  We ask that everyone PLEASE be on time to ensure we have plenty of time to devote to all of our potential couples.

Many of you have been requesting classes and workshops.  We are working on it, but we are having some scheduling conflicts because of our consult schedule.  Fortunately my ever lovely and talented designer, Chris has offered to help in this department.  So stay tuned…

We are working on offering a few more self-serve options here as well.  I realize many of you really don’t want to get involved in the whole consult and meeting process without knowing your customized pricing first.  Which is why we now have our own, “How Much” option where you can check out pricing, order recipes for designs, identify flower types and even ask for a detailed estimate!  Feel free to check it out!  http://anightinbloom.com/category_28/How-Much.htm

Thanks again everyone!  We are all SO looking forward to what is shaping up to be a beautiful, bloom filled 2013!!!!

Christy and Chris’ Rustic Roxbury Barn Wedding

Christy was a great bride to work with!  She was all about DIY; being in the fashion industry she had a ton of very creative and talented friends to help her with her florals.  We were more than delighted to help her.  Although her wedding was in October, Christy really wasn’t a fan of traditional fall colors.  I really liked her color scheme concept.  She chose mauve, mustard yellow, navy, white/ ivory, and tiny pops of crimson.  Christy and her amazing friends and family created all of the florals you see here, with the exception of the bouquets and personal flowers.  They all did an amazing job with the rest of their accessories and decor.  All very apropos for the Roxbury Barn, where the event was held.  And what a treat is to work up there!  Casper is a wonderful host and although he was very busy with wedding preparations, still took the time to show me around.  No matter where I looked I was surrounded by beauty.  This truly is a unique, one- of-a-kind venue.  The beautiful Photography below is courtesy of Nina Westervelt Photography.  http://ninawestervelt.net/

Nancy and David’s Beautiful Blush Toned Wedding at Patriot Hills

Nancy was pretty unsure of what she wanted for her wedding florals, when she first contacted me.  However once she caught a glimpse of one of our Cafe Au Lait Dahlia bouquets, she was in love!  After much deliberation she decided on all of these gorgeous blush toned Dahlias, Roses, and “cottagy” flowers, paired with soft gray and “sagey” green accents, we even managed to squeeze in a few pink toned Cymbidium Orchids (another one of Nancy’s favorite flowers).  The gray and sage tones were achieved by the use of Brunia Berries, Dusty Miller and Seeded Eucalyptus.  I only WISH I had more time to take a few more photos of the place card table and cocktail arrangements, they were so lovely!  It seems there is just never enough time anymore.  The Chuppah was one of my favorite designs so far.  We were lucky enough to be able to use her heirloom tallit for the top.  Here are a few photos that we managed to snap during the set up, followed by some beauties from the very talented Emma Cleary Photography.

Congratulations Nancy and David, we wish you all the best!!!

A Wedding Full of Lavender and Lovlieness in Claverack

This was such a great wedding!  We were fortunate to work alongside our friends Jeanne Stark from Hudson Valley Ceremonies; and Cynthia Delconte, who was kind enough to furnish the majority of these photos.  Elizabeth and Jonathan were wed at their home in Claverick, NY.  Although this couple lived in a beautiful farmhouse, (complete with a rustic red barn, pond, and winding pathways!) they still wanted elegant accents incorporated into their wedding decor.  Rather than wrapping bouquets in burlap, Elizabeth still preferred satin ribbon but with a beautiful lace overlay (which was selected from our vintage stash).  Plants were wrapped in jute and satin lace ribbon.  Like many of our couples, it was also important to these two to incorporate some reusable items into their decor.  We achieved this by incorporating lots of potted lavender into their ceremony decor, which was later planted in their garden.  Potted Hydrangea on the front porch were also replanted.  There were so many beautiful details added to this wedding, it’s hard to list them all.  Although I must say that the flower girl wand that we created was one of my most favorite creations yet!

Congratulations Elizabeth and Jonathan!!!

Could this baby be any sweeter?!

This is the ultimate “make it work” photo!  This memory table consisted of heirloom quilts from the bride and groom’s families, a vintage wedding gown, as well as many personal plaques and photos.  BUT none of the photos had stands on them.  Yikes!  Luckily the wonderful staff at Terrapin came to our rescue with additional coffee mugs which we stacked up, and covered in jute fabric to prop everything up on.  Whew!  Thanks again guys!

I love this photo, what a beautiful couple!

Dreamy!

Leyna and Roberto’s Vibrant West Park Winery Wedding

Leyna and Robert’s wedding at the West Park Winery was right at the beginning of our August rush.  In the past August has been a somewhat busy month for us; but this year August was the month that we booked up faster than any other month!

Above all Leyna wanted us to create something really vibrant and fun for her and Roberto’s big day.  She was very fond of Vanda Orchids so we of course had to include them into her bouquet!  For her tables she really wanted something fun and bright.  Rather than sticking to just one style on each table, Leyna had us create a bunch of colorful centerpieces in glass cube vases, each containing a different type of flower from the rest of the bouquets.  We created one style using Blue Delphinium, another using Purple Double Stock, and one using Green Fuji Mums.  For her cocktail arrangements we used smaller sized cubes and used vibrant, green Bupleurem in some; and purple Caspia in the others.  Everything was simple, colorful, and elegant for this sweet summer couple.

Congratulations Leyna and Roberto!!!
