Adrian and Ben’s- Full Moon Resort Wedding, Complete with a Full Moon!

Adrian and Ben were such a delightful and laid back couple to work with.  They had one of the prettiest late summer days for their wedding at the beautiful Full Moon Resort, complete with an actual Full Moon!  Adrian asked me to create a bouquet containing mainly muted tones, with hints of peach and warm sunset hues.  Since this was late summer in the Hudson Valley we were able to source a lot of our flowers locally, which is always a plus!  Ben’s boutonniere was one of my favorites this season and contained the most perfect succulent and wildflower accents.  The centerpieces were casual but completely lovely assortments of wildflowers and Daisies arranged in Mason Jars.  We used the same type of arrangements to line the aisle in the already beautiful lower grove area.

I have no idea how I missed the cakes during set up, but when I saw these beautiful pro pics my jaw dropped at the sight of the honey bee cakes!!!  So charming!  Most of you know bee keeping is on my bucket list, so this rocked my little flowery world! I must get one of these beautiful cakes from Agnes at The Village TeaRoom Restaurant and Bake Shop next time I’m in New Paltz!

And kudos to L&L Style Photo on their beautiful photography of this wedding!  There were so many pretty photos from this event, it was hard to pick just a few from this collection!  Here is a link to even more:  http://www.llstylephoto.com/blog/adrian-ben-full-moon-resort-catskills-wedding/

Congratulations Adrian and Ben, we wish you all the very best in your new life as Husband and Wife!

Cheers!

Throw Back Thursday: Carrie and Matthew’s Rhinecliff Nuptials

Here’s a throwback Thursday much too pretty to pass up!

I was lucky enough to catch up with some fantastic wedding pros at a holiday party this past weekend and when chatting with the lovely China Jorrin, we recalled both working together in September of 2012 at Carrie and Matthew’s beautiful Rhinecliff wedding.

Carrie and Matthew really gravitated toward more unusual flowers such as Kale, Green Trick Dianthus, and Star of Bethlehem. In order to still keep everything elegant, we added Ranuculus, Lisianthus, Roses, and Hydrangea to off set the more whimsical looking flower varieties.

Here are some of the beautiful photos that China captured of their big day!

Carrie and MattI still remember how much I loved this escort card display!  We brought in all of our birch logs to display the escort cards on.  These logs were set against a backdrop of our larger vases, wrapped with beautiful grosgrain ribbon and filled with floating candles and florets.

Rebecca and Stephen’s Gatsby Inspired Wedding- Onteora Mountain House

“There are all kinds of love in this world but never the same love twice.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald

I love this quote, it so reminds me of my work.  I have fallen in love with more flowers, wedding designs, and wedding experiences than I can even count!  Rebecca and Stephen’s was one of these types because it finally gave me a chance to work on a Great Gatsby inspired event!

Rebecca and Stephen planned so many perfect details to reflect their Gatsby themed event at Onteora Mountain House.  I have really been looking forward to sharing this one with you all, so you too, could drool over all of the loveliness! Kimberly Cocagnia did a phenomenal job on the photography as well, adding to the beauty of it all!  http://www.kimberlycoccagnia.com/wedding-photography-blog/rebecca-and-stephen  Pale mint green was an accent color used throughout the designs.  Rebecca chose to have our urns filled with all Eucalyptus varieties in the same shade of green that was featured on all of the Art Deco stationary and signage throughout the day.  Gold leaves were added to give a nod to the glamorous theme.

I especially loved the florals we used for this wedding! Rebecca’s bouquet was so much fun for me to create, I have never had the opportunity to guild Succulents before, and I was delighted to!  I also added the same gold leaf to Stephen’s boutonniere!  It is all of these little details that really add to the overall look and feel of an event.  Other details included the most perfect 1920’s inspired bridesmaids dresses, a gorgeous Art Deco Cake, and a stunning floral arrangement on the escort card table in an antique silver vase, which belonged to Rebecca’s parents.

As for the larger details, during the reception we did one of our “half and half” types of set ups. This means that half of the tables consisted of tall centerpieces and the other half contained shorter centerpieces.  Candelabras are an absolute must have for Gatsby inspired weddings!  However, Rebecca wanted to give them a little more of a modern twist.  So rather than using the tried and true all floral displays, we adorned the candelabras with Flat Leaf Eucalyptus Garlands.  They looked great and guests appreciated that they could take them home to dry into wreaths!  The shorter arrangements were bursting with lush and beautiful Garden Roses, Thistle, Freesia, and very tiny accents of gilded foliage; which paired so perfectly with the gold mercury glass compote dishes the florals were displayed in.

It all added up to a very glamorous day, set against the most beautiful backdrop of the Catskills, at the picturesque Onteora Mountain House.  We wish you all the very best Stephen and Rebecca, congratulations!!!

~Heather

Colleen and Damian’s Simple Woodland Wedding- The Roxbury Barn

Colleen contacted us just a few months before her nuptials to Damian, a bit nervous in fact. Neither or them had a large passion for flowers and didn’t originally plan on even having florals in their wedding- and to be honest, with such a lovely, woodland location like that of Roxbury Barn- who would have though you’d need ’em?

But a few months before the wedding, Collen and Damian had changed their minds. While they didn’t need much, Colleen wanted to accent the natural, woodland beauty of their ceremony space with a few elements that would just blend into the natural surroundings. What better, more natural  element could you add  a forest than ferns?! Our rental ferns lined the aisle alongside the massive trees to add that little extra something that Colleen and Damian were looking for. Colleen also took advantage of their creative sides and DIY’d some arrangements (ordered from our by the bunch collection), and Damian, with a background in set design, created and installed the beautiful fabric draping you see.  We love working with these types of creative couples!!

Colleen’s bouquet contained some gorgeous and in season Dahlias, keeping it simple and elegant.  Her bouquet was just perfect for the setting!

While we weren’t there for a set up on this one, we are so glad that Colleen shared these amazing photos with us so we could see the end result of her and Damian’s beautiful big day.

We wish you both a long and happy life together as husband and wife! Congratulations Colleen and Damian!

Christina and Paul’s Bevy of Beauty- Basilica Hudson, NY

It was a picture perfect spring day for a wedding at the Basilica in Hudson, NY and we couldn’t have been more excited!  Christina and Paul made their wedding a party for all of their guests and even brought in games to play, as well as a food truck! Christina and Paul jazzed up the raw industrial space with gigantic birch trees that towered above their guests and brought a little touch of the outdoors in.

Christina and Paul originally wanted assorted spring flowers in bud vases as centerpieces for all of the farm tables.  However, Heather felt that Cherry Blossom stems would be an awesome addition to pair with the Birch Trees and brought in over 100, to be exact!  And let’s not forget the fact that Cherry Blossoms are off season in late May!  But those of you who know Heather know she loves a challenge when it comes to flowers, especially flowering branches!

Christina and her bridesmaids carried lush bouquets full of the season’s prettiest blooms, including Peonies, Garden Roses and Double Stock, just to name a few!  They smelled as pretty as they looked (I know this first hand because I helped with the set up and delivery on this one!)

Paul couldn’t have been any more excited to receive his and the groomsmen’ s boutonnieres.  We found them all playing pool and having a great time!  We really enjoy getting to see all of the fun times that lead up to a wedding so early in the day!

The ceremony space was really lovely, we lined the aisle with our (rental) ferns, and added blush toned Orchids to them all.  Two larger sized Cherry Blossom arrangements marked the front of the aisle.  We loved the contrast of the pale pink blossoms against the light blue brick wall!  The rest of the space was decorated with additional floral arrangements containing the most fragrant and gorgeous Peonies, Garden Roses, Vines, Succulents and candles.

Congratulations Christina and Paul! All of us here at A Night In Bloom wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!

Charissa and Zak’s Magical and Misty Onteora Mountain House Wedding

Everyone knows the old wives tale of rain on your wedding day being good luck, and while it’s never ideal when you’re planning an outdoor wedding, we think that Zak and Charissa lucked out with some absolutely stunning, misty and dreamy photos, from Lisa Hibbert Photograpy. Their nuptials and celebration took place over Memorial Day weekend at the idyllic Onteora Mountain House.

Charissa was such a delightful and happy bride to work with.  She selected our off the rack Cottage Garden package, but customized the colors and upgraded it all with a beautiful chuppah design!  This design was so pretty, that this optimistic couple instructed us to set it all up outside, no matter what happened weather wise.  So with the driving rain and wind, Bryan and I worked our magic, carrying buckets of fresh flowers, wires, moss and a ladder to set up this beautiful structure.  As we worked, we were serenaded by some amazing Broadway voices, making the set up even more worthwhile!  We were very excited for Charissa and Zak as we watched all of the moving pieces come together; guests began to arrive, vocals were fine tuned, and the other vendors began setting up.

Everyone was so hopeful that the weather would let up just a little for this sweet couple, however Mother Nature had other plans and Zak and Charissa were wed inside, under the beautiful pavilion.  Luckily this was Onteroa Mountain House, so the view was still out of this world!

Outdoor pictures were taken a little later in the day, when the weather did decide to cooperate a little more.  While no one ever wishes for rain on their wedding day, we have to admit that some of our favorite photos are often of rainy day weddings, and Charissa and Zak’s is no exception! We wish them both nothing but bright skies, beautiful song, and all of the happiness in the world!!!

~Heather
